INS Ranvijay Docks in Sepanggar Port, Malaysia

Indian Navy’s guided missile destroyer, INS Ranvijay, commanded by Captain MG Raju, NM entered Sepanggar port, Malaysia on a three day goodwill visit on August 6, 2014.

This is the first ever visit of an Indian Naval warship to this port and is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing inter-operability between navies of the two friendly nations. Various activities are planned during the stay of the ship at Sepanggar which include official calls, reception on board, ship open to visitors, guided tours for Indian naval personnel and professional interaction between personnel of both the navies.

It may be recalled that three frontline warships of the Eastern Fleet departed Indian shores in the mid June and have since been operating in this part of the world. The warships earlier participated in the Indo-Russian bilateral naval exercise INDRA 14 and the trilateral naval exercise MALABAR 14 with the US Navy and Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF), in the Sea of Japan.

The ship along with two others, indigenously built guided missile stealth frigate INS Shivalik and INS Shakti, a modern Fleet tanker and support ship, would return to India in mid August after a two month long deployment.
