Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) held a keel laying ceremony for Indian Coast Guard’s fifth of the New Class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) on 22nd July 2014.

The contract for the construction of six OPVs for the Indian Coast Guard was signed on 9th May 2012. The first keel laying ceremony to mark the commencement of the series construction of the new class OPVs was held at GSL on 28th September 2012.

These vessels for the Indian Coast Guard are based on in-house design of Goa Shipyard Ltd. When commissioned, these vessels will be the most advanced Patrol Vessels in service with the Indian Coast Guard.
