Midshipmen Train aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt

The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) welcomed 21 Midshipmen from several universities around the country as part of the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program during an underway period, June 2-13.

NROTC Midshipmen visit different naval vessels during their summer break as part of the program. While on Theodore Roosevelt, midshipmen gained hands on experience with Sailors in evolutions, such as general quarters and weapons training. They also observed test cell operations and drills.

NROTC students typically participate in the Midshipmen Summer Cruise program, during the summer following their freshman and junior year of college.

Visiting Theodore Roosevelt gave Midshipmen an opportunity to experience what Navy life is like on an aircraft carrier. Whether the Midshipmen graduate in one year or three, seeing the different departments and working hands on with Sailors in the fleet help the Midshipmen decide on their future career paths.
