COMSHORE Visits HMAS Stirling

Commander Shore Force (COMSHORE) Captain Brett Chandler spent a few days visiting the HMAS Stirling units under his command recently.

His primary focus was to observe the state of the infrastructure, engage with sailors and officers and understand the requirements for the provision of support, education and other services to submarines and ships based at Fleet Base West.

“I have met with sailors and officers of all ranks and discussed with them the nature of their support to our ships and submarines,” Captain Chandler said.

Captain Chandler also visited the Chaplains, Gunnery department, Helicopter Support Unit and Stirling command.

“My last visit to Stirling was seven years ago and whilst some physical things on the base have changed the professionalism, dedication and integrity of our sailors and officers remained. In fact, I find this across all my establishments; Navy personnel working hard to train and support those at sea,” Captain Chandler said.

COMSHORE is responsible for operational command of Shore Force, Royal Australian Navy commissioned establishments and regional headquarters, delivery of Shore Force capability including Navy facilities, garrison support, infrastructure and port services in compliance with seaworthiness requirements and Navy policy to meet Defence Preparedness Requirements.
