The Royal Netherlands Navy frigate Zr. Ms. Evertsen escorted a Russian warship through Dutch waters on Sunday, July 6.

According to social media, the Udaloy class Russian destroyer Admiral Levchenko was en route to her home port Severomorsk from the Mediterranean.

Zr. Ms. Evertsen was given the task to intercept and receive the destroyer on the south side of the Dutch Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

The vessel then escorted the Russian destroyer outside the Dutch EEZ, where the UK frigate HMS Lancaster took on the escort task.

The Royal Netherlands Navy permanently keeps a ship in Den Helder, prepared to take action in the North Sea.
