SLNS Samudura Brings 41 Illegal Immigrants Ashore

Sri Lanka Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessel, SLNS Samudura is bringing 41 Australia-bound Sri Lankan illegal immigrants to the Galle Harbour.

They were handed over to SLNS Samudura by Australia yesterday morning when it was on deep sea patrol in the southern seas of Sri Lanka. The group will be handed over to the law enforcement authorities for further investigations when brought ashore.

SLN, on humanitarian grounds, has rescued a number of victims from tragedies at sea in its Search and Rescue Region using its assets and professional expertise for the SAR missions.
