Three U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen departed the guided-missile destroyer USS Truxtun (DDG 103) after three weeks on board the ship June 16.

While on board, the midshipmen, were exposed to various operations and experienced first-hand life on board a ship.

While midshipmen were on board they had the opportunity to shoot various weapons, take part in an underway replenishment and receive training in damage control and first aid.

The midshipmen also were allowed a chance to work with the crew during multiple ship movements and exercises geared towards preparing them for future operations they might face after joining the fleet.

Truxtun is deployed as part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
