Colombian Navy Rescues 35

The Colombian Navy rescued 35 people which were left adrift in the waters of the Colombian Pacific after their boat experienced mechanical failure.

 

MV Mary Patricia, with 27 passengers and 8 crew members aboard,  encountered the issues on Monday, June 23 at approximately 20:00 hours near Gorgona Island.

As soon as the Coast Guard Command Pacific received an emergency call, they sent the ship ARC Cabo Corrientes, which was closest to the scene, to initiate search and rescue operation.

MV Mary Patricia was located at 02:30 hours on Tuesday, June 24, about 30 nautical miles from Point Pepper, rural area of Cauca-Guapi.

The Navy personnel provided on site first aid to the rescued, nine of which were children. The Navy also moved the boat to a safe area.
