The U.S. Navy’s forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) hosted Malaysian distinguished visitors for a tour of the ship at sea, June 24.

The 22 distinguished visitors, including Datuk Abd Rahim Bakri, Malaysian deputy defense minister and Rear Adm. Dato’ Pahlawan Mior Rosdi, assistant chief of staff, operating and exercises, Royal Malaysian Navy, embarked on George Washington to learn about the ship’s capabilities and operations.

The guests were taken around the ship to view flight operations and to learn about aircraft embarked aboard the ship.

The tour helped various aspects of Malaysian military and government to see and understand the operations of a forward-deployed Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.

George Washington and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing 5, provide a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interest of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
