Command Master Chief Visits USS George H.W. Bush

USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) hosted a visit from the command master chief (CMDCM) of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command / U.S. 5th Fleet, June 17-19.

 

George H.W. Bush welcomed Command Master Chief Scott A. Fleming for a scheduled visit as part of a tour of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group (GHWB CSG).

During his visit, Fleming visited many of the ship’s departments and viewed the ship’s daily operations. Fleming also toured the wardrooms, Chiefs Mess and had the chance to speak with many of the crew.

“It is very important for members of the 5th Fleet staff to come out here and see firsthand the operational force in action. We are here to see if we are doing the things we need to be doing as the staff to support the operational assets,” said Fleming.

Fleming also toured many of the ships departments and was able to view operations on the flight deck. He was also able to speak with members of the Junior Enlisted Association.

Commanded by Rear Adm. DeWolfe Miller, GHWB CSG is comprised of the aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush, Carrier Air Wing 8, Destroyer Squadron 22, guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58), guided-missile destroyer USS Truxtun (DDG 103) and guided-missile destroyer USS Roosevelt (DDG 80).
