Image of the Day USS Oscar Austin Conducts Replenishment-at-Sea

The guided-missile destroyer USS Oscar Austin (DDG 79) approaches the German navy replenishment tanker FGS Spessart (A1442) for a replenishment-at-sea while underway for Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) 2014.

Now in its 42nd year, BALTOPS is an annual, multinational exercise with the goal of enhancing maritime capabilities, interoperability and supporting regional stability.

USS Oscar Austin (DDG-79) is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer in the United States Navy. The ship is currently part of Carrier Strike Group Ten.

Oscar Austin is named for Private First Class Oscar P. Austin, USMC, a recipient of the Medal of Honor.
