SNMG1 Supports NATO’s Counter-Terrorism Operation

Following last month’s change of command from Norway to Denmark and subsequent force integration training, Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1) is resuming support to NATO’s counter-terrorism Operation ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR.

“Our units are newly deployed together, and I am pleased with the way our exercises went,” says Commodore Aage Buur Jensen, Royal Danish Navy, who took command of SNMG1 on 30 May. “I am fully confident that the units function professionally not only on their own, but also as a coordinated force.”

SNMG1 is comprised of the flagship HDMS ESBERN SNARE (Denmark), USS TAYLOR (United States), and HMCS REGINA (Canada). The SNMG1 staff embarked aboard ESBERN SNARE come from Denmark, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the USA.
