Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems and the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command have signed a USD 23.64 million contract modification to a previously awarded contract for systems engineering and integration in support of Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems.

These services include requirements synthesis, technical performance parameter derivation, test and validation, and configuration management and control of the submarine fleet electronic interface database.

The majority of the work will be performed in Manassas, Virginia (44 percent), followed by, inter alia, Middletown, Rhode Island and San Antonio, Texas and it is expected to be completed by January 2015.

The Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical System (SWFTS) is described as a system of systems. It is composed of all submarine combat subsystems which are mainly consultation, command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence to provide architecture integration to all submarine subsystems into one whole.
