U.S. Coast Guard Changes Command

Rear Adm. Stephen P. Metruck assumed command of the Coast Guard’s 5th District during a change-of-command ceremony Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion.

Metruck relieved Rear Adm. Steven H. Ratti, who has served as the 5th District’s commander since April 2012.

As commander of the 5th District, Metruck will oversee operations in navigable waters from the middle of New Jersey to the South Carolina border.

Metruck reported to the 5th District following his most recent flag assignment as the assistant commandant for resources and chief financial officer for the Coast Guard, where he was responsible for all Coast Guard financial management and resource activities including planning, programming, budgeting and execution of the service’s $10 billion annual appropriation.
