USS Truxton Leaves Aqaba, Jordan

Guided-missile destroyer USS Truxtun (DDG 103) departed the Royal Jordanian Naval Base, just outside of Aqaba, Jordan, following a four-day logistics stop, April 23.

Truxtun also conducted a change of command ceremony in which former executive officer, Cmdr. Drew Bates, assumed command.

While in port, Truxtun Sailors enjoyed a series of Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) tours, including one to the ancient city of Petra.

“It was an excellent opportunity for our Sailors to get a look at sites as historic as those here in Jordan,” Bates said. “We are grateful for the warm welcome and the support we’ve received”.

Truxtun is deployed as part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility.
