USA: GDBIW’s LCS Design Contract Modified

GDBIW's LCS Design Contract Modified

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works has won a USD 28.6 million contract modification for the U.S. Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class design services.

Under this contract, the shipbuilder will provide necessary engineering, program, and technical support for LCS class ships, including class baseline design services, class documentation services, class engineering studies and interim support services.

Littoral Combat Ships are a class of relatively small surface vessels intended for operations in the littoral zone, which is the part of a sea that is close to the shore.

The work will be performed in Bath, Maine (54%), Pittsfield, Mass. (45 %), and Mobile, Ala. (1%).

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works is scheduled to complete this job by May 2015.
