HMS Blazer paid a visit to the Port of Wells on 16th April 2014 for one night. The vessel was piloted into the Outer Harbour by Robert Smith using the Harbour Launch.
HMS Blazer is an Archer-class patrol vessel of the Royal Navy. She was built by Watercraft Marine in 1985 and after serving with the RNR 10th MCM Squadron she entered service with Southampton University Royal Naval Unit in 1990 as a sea training vessel for Student members of Southampton and Portsmouth Universities and Southampton Institute. She is just over 20 metres long and 5.8 metres wide and powered by two Rolls-Royce turbo engines.
HMS Blazer is a Commissioned Royal Naval ship, and is commanded by the Commanding Officer of SURNU, Lt (RN) Amie Jackson, and is based at HMS Nelson shore base in Portsmouth.
