ADF Personnel Arrives in Solomon Islands

An assessment and planning assistance team of 11 ADF personnel has arrived in the Solomon Islands capital of Honiara to support assessment of the damage caused by widespread flooding.

 

The 11 person assessment and planning assistance team is supporting specialist advisers from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

A second RAAF C-130J Hercules departed RAAF Base Amberley yesterday, bound for Honiara. This aircraft is transporting humanitarian aid and three additional DFAT officers and three defence support personnel.

Defence is supporting the Australian Government response that is coordinated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

The Australian Defence Force has a close relationship with the Solomon Islands people and stands ready to provide additional support to help them recover from these devastating floods.
