HMNZS Wellington’s Mission to Sub-Antartic Draws to a Close

The Royal New Zealand Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessel HMNZS WELLINGTON is back in North Island coastal waters after her latest Operation Endurance voyage with Department of Conservation staff to the remote Antipodes Islands, some 900 km south-east of Bluff.

 

The offshore patrol vessel HMNZS WELLINGTON visited New Zealand’s sub-Antarctic islands with Conservation Minister Nick Smith and staff from the Department of Conservation and MetService on board, visiting facilities on the islands and declaring marine reserves.

The ship’s company and their visitors got to see the local wildlife up close.

HMNZS Wellington (P-55) is a Protector class off-shore patrol vessel in the Royal New Zealand Navy.
