Russia Sinks Ship to Block Ukrainian Navy Ships

The Russian Navy Ochakov Kara-class cruiser was sunk last night to block the Ukrainian Navy ships deployed in Novoozerne, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence said in a press release today.   The information was confirmed by the Ukrainian military of the South Naval Base who were observing the operation. 


Ukrainian Warship Thwarts Attack in Sevastopol

The crew of the Ukrainian Navy warship Slavutych prevented a hijacking attempt by armed persons in Sevastopol, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence said in a release today.


Hetman Sahaydachny Remains Loyal to Ukraine

The Ukrainian frigate Hetman Sahaydachny with Ka-27 helicopter and special team on board has completed its deployment within the Ocean Shield and the EU Atalanta operations in the Gulf of Aden and now it is docked in Greece for replenishment, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence said on Sunday.

Ukrainian frigate Hetman Sahaidachny has successfully completed an operational tour with the EU Naval Force and is now sailing towards her home port of Sevastopol in the Ukraine.  


Russian Warships Pass Bosphorus Strait

Two Russian Navy warships passed the Bosphorus Strait yesterday, the South African Press Association (Sapa-AFP)reported.   According to Turkish Anatolia Agency, the two ships are the 150 Saratov and the landing ship 156 Yamal. The ships are on their way to the Black Sea, Turkish media wrote.


Australia: First “at Sea” Trial for NUSHIP Canberra

NUSHIP Canberra, the first of two Landing Helicopter Dock ships being built for the Australian Defence Force, sailed yesterday for the first time under her own propulsion as part of the sea trials and testing program.
