Commander of Maritime Forces Atlantic Welcomes German Navy Ship

Anent the arrival of German Navy Ship FGS Bonn to Halifax, Canada, Rear Admiral John Newton, Commander of Maritime Forces Atlantic issued the following message:   “It is my great pleasure to welcome the Berlin-class replenishment ship FGS Bonn to Halifax for a seven-day visit in Canada beginning Wednesday, February 19, 2014.


Keel Laid for US Navy’s Future USS Sioux City

The Lockheed Martin-led industry team officially laid the keel for the U.S. Navy’s eleventh Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), the future USS Sioux City, in a ceremony held yesterday at Marinette Marine Corporation.


Indian Navy Kicks Off Exercise Tropex 2014

The Indian Navy has started their largest combat exercise called “Tropex”, which is taking place in the Bay of Bengal.   Over 50 Indian warships are partaking in the exercise, including the flagship of the Indian Navy, INS Viraat, and nuclear submarine INS Chakra. 


Submarine USS Greenville Leaves Pearl-Harbor

Family and friends said their farewells to the crew of the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Greeneville (SSN 772) as she departed Joint Base Pearl-Harbor Hickam for a deployment to the Western Pacific region, Feb. 15.   Greeneville’s commanding officer, Cmdr. Martin Muckian, said the submarine and her crew are excited to get underway.

Malaysian Navy’s Newbuilds to Feature Thales Systems

Thales announces that it has signed a Letter of Award with Contraves Advanced Devices Sdn. Bhd. to supply six SMART-S Mk2 naval surveillance radar systems, as well as six CAPTAS-2 towed sonar systems for the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Second Generation Patrol Vessel (SGPV) Littoral Combat Ships (LCS).
