ESPS Tornado Trains with Malagasy Navy

Crewmembers of the Spanish Navy warship ESPS Tornado, assigned to EU Naval Force, conducted an exercise with the Malagasy Navy.

The exercise took place in Antisiranana, Madagascar from 5 to 8 February and included participation of 18 people from the Malagasy Navy.

The primary goal of the exercise was to train counter-piracy and boarding operations, where ESPS Tornado simulated a merchant vessel.

The exercise provided an opportunity to grow mutual understanding between the European Union Naval Force and the Navy of Madagascar, Commanding Officer of ESPS Tornado, Lieutenant Commander Juan Jose Belizon said.

Upon completion of the exercise, the Spanish warship left port of Antisiranana and continued her duties.
