Russian Navy Gets New Tugboat
RUSSIAN NAVY’S TUGBOAT RB-401

The tugboat of project 90600 “RB-401”, built by Russian Pella shipyard, joined the Russian Navy on February 1st, 2014 at a ceremony in Kaliningrad.

 

The tugboat is intended for towing and berthing operations, as well as refloating of ships and vessels, fire fighting operations at floating and shore objects, ice breaking, erosion operations, oil and petroleum content products and cargo transportation.

For the purpose of conducting fire-fighting operations, the tugboat is equipped with external fire-fighting system made by FFS.

The 25-meter RB-401 tug is powered by two Caterpillar C32 engines with the capacity of 746 kW each and can reach a speed of 11.8 knots.
