Italian Frigate Wraps Up Deployment within EU NAVFOR

Italian Navy frigate ITS Libeccio has completed her deployment within the European Naval Force Operation Atalanta.

 

During the four-month deployment, ITS Libeccio conducted about 50 friendly approaches to local vessels in the Gulf of Aden, Somali Basin and the Arabian Sea.

Crew of the Italian Navy frigate, which consists of 240 crewmembers, passed over 20,000 nautical miles in four months.

The ship headed for the European Naval Force Operation Atalanta on August 27th 2013 and arrived in Djibouti on October 6th 2013, after which it commenced sea patrols.

ITS Libeccio is expected to return home on Wednesday February 26th.
