The Canadian Navy ship HMCS Regina is en route to the Arabian Sea to replace HMCS Toronto and resume the Canadian duties within Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150) in mid-February.

This is the second deployment on Operation ARTEMIS for HMCS Regina.

HMCS Toronto, which departed Halifax on January 14, 2013, has completed her deployment within Operation ARTEMIS and she will leave the waters of the Arabian Sea soon.

During the patrol, she intercepted and destroyed nine narcotics shipments and conducted more than 60 boardings. She also paid 16 goodwill port visits with the goal to demonstrate Canada’s involvement in ensuring security and stability in the region.

Both of the ships are Halifax-class frigates with a capability of accommodating 250 personnel as well as a CH-124 Sea King helicopter air detachment and a shipboard unmanned aerial vehicle detachment.
