DCNS Delivers FREMM Frigate to Royal Moroccan Navy

DCNS has delivered the multimission frigate Mohammed VI to the Royal Navy of Morocco without delay.

 

His Excellency Prince Moulay Rachid El Alaoui, brother of the King of Morocco, Jean-Yves Le Drian, the French Minister of Defence and Patrick Boissier, Chairman & CEO of DCNS attended the handover ceremony.

The frigate Mohammed VI is the second vessel of the class designed and built by DCNS in a production run of 12 ships for the navies of French and Morocco. The frigate is optimized for anti-submarine warfare.

Chairman and CEO of DCNS, Patrick Boissier, said that the Mohammed VI is a special warship for DCNS because Morocco was the first country after France to acquire this type of a frigate, built by DCNS.

Twelve ships are included in the FREMM programme, which consists of eleven frigates for the French Navy and one for the Royal Moroccan Navy.
