Japanese Navy Loses Submarine
TSUGARU PENINSULA, JAPAN

The Japanese Navy lost a USD 5.7 million worth unmanned submarine last year, according to AFP.

The submarine was being used in the Tsugaru Strait, a channel located between the Japanese islands of Honshu and Hokkaido, in November last year, for collecting data from the underwater terrain in the area.

The Navy conducted a nine-day search of the sea floor but it hasn’t found the submarine, which vanished after her cable had severed.

The Japanese Ministry will investigate the cause of the vehicle’s disappearance.
