EU NAVFOR SHIPS WITH USNS JOSHUA HUMPHEREYS

EU Naval Force Ships ESPS Tornado, FS Siroco, and FGS Hessen met at sea with the US Navy ship USNS Joshua Humphreys for a joint replenishment at sea (RAS) on January 21st, 2014.

Four ships with more than 600 crewmembers took part in the RAS, which was carried out successfully and quickly.

EU Naval Force Commander, Herve Blejean, said that they were satisfied with the RAS, which showed true professionalism and dedication. In addition, he thanked the USNS Joshua Humpereys crew, who performed replenishment of four ships in only 24 hours.

USNS Joshua Humphreys is a Henry J. Kaiser-class fleet replenishment oiler of the US Navy. She is the second ship of the class, specially built for the Military Sealift Command.

The ship was deactivated for a couple of times, but in March 2010 Atlantic Marine shipyard in Philadelphia received a USD 12.8 million contract to reactivate the ship.

After the reactivation, the ship joined the US Fifth Fleet in support of counter-piracy and counter-terrorism operations.
