BAE Systems has received a £6 million (about USD 9.94 million) contract to extend its support to the Royal Navy’s warships.

The BAE Systems teams for the Class Output Management and Design Services are in charge of providing a one-stop shop of support to the HMS Illustrious, the Hunt Class and the Type 23 Class warships as part of the Ship Support Alliance (SSA).

The Ship Support Alliance is a program created in late 2004/2005 to improve the way that the industry worked with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The Fleet Services Director, BAE Systems Maritime Services, Richard Dingley said that the extension of the support contract was really important and that it would allow BAE Systems to continue delivering platform availability to the fleet.

BAE Systems will also give through life support to the Navy’s three River class vessels and 6 new Type 45 Destroyers.
