Damen Launches STV for Omani Navy
RNOV ‘SHABAB OMAN’

Galati-based Damen Shipyards has successfully launched the new Sail Training Vessel (STV) named RNOV ‘Shabab Oman’, which is being built for the Omani Navy.

The vessel will be the flagship of the Royal Navy of Oman and continue the role of the current STV. The vessel is 87 meters long and will have a 2700 m2 sail area.

She looks like a traditional teak vessel from the outside, but she has the most modern technology inside.

The investment in the ship shows the Navy’s commitment to boost its naval capabilities.

Before arriving in the Netherlands today, January 14, 2014, the vessel was towed through the Black Sea, Bosphorus, Mediterranean and into the Bay of Biscay.
