HMCS Regina to Join Operation ARTEMIS
CANADIAN NAVY SHIP HMCS REGINA

Canadian Ship HMCS Regina departed Esquimalt on Monday, January 6th to join Operation ARTEMIS.

Operation ARTEMIS represents Canadian participation in maritime security and counter-terrorism operations in the Arabian Sea, which demonstrates the country’s solidarity with its allies in working together to ensure peace and security of the greater Middle East region.

The ship will replace HMCS Toronto, which had been on the mission from February to December 2013. HMS Toronto carried out numerous missions includingdestruction and interception of 7 narcotics shipments of a multi-million value.

HMCS Regina’s mission is to detect, deter and detract terrorist activities in the region.
