Russia Takes Over Its First Yasen Sub
The Severodvinsk, Russian Navy’s first Project 885M Yasen-class attack sub was officially accepted today by the Navy, RIA Novosti informs citing a defence official. As reported, the delivery acceptance certificate was signed officially today at the Sevmash shipyard.
Korean Navy Orders Another Frigate from DSME
The Korean Navy has placed an order with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for construction of an Incheon Class frigate worth USD 305.8 million. As stipulated by the contract, DSME is obliged to construct and deliver the frigate to the South Korean Navy by 2017.
INS Vikramaditya Due in Three Weeks
India’s largest aircraft carrier, INS Vikramaditya, currently en route from Russia to India, is going to enter Indian waters in three weeks, Indian media sources claim. The long-awaited warship, worth $2.3 billion, departed Russia’s Sevmash shipyard in November and is expected to reach her homeport INS Kadamba, Karwar at the end of January.
Vietnam’s First Kilo-Class Sub Bound for Final Destination
Hanoi HQ 182, a 636 Varshavyanka-class submarine, built by Russia for Vietnam, has departed Singapore and headed for its final destination, the Cam Ranh port in Vietnam, where it will be delivered to Vietnam’s Navy, according to local media sources.
Two Chinese Warships Dock in Tanzania
On Sunday, two Chinese Navy ships dropped their anchors in Dar es Salaam Port, Tanzania for a four-day visit, Tanzania Daily News writes. The visit represents the first port call of the Chinese task group having completed escort missions in the Gulf of Aden.
