The Singapore Navy has demonstrated the capabilities of its recently-upgraded six Victory-class missile corvettes. The upgrades included improvement of the warships’ combat management system and their sensor systems, together with the introduction of the ScanEagle UAV.

The UAV will enable the warships and their crews to identify a potential threat without the need to approach it, as it was the case previously.

The new improvements, however, cost the corvettes their anti-submarine capabilities, since they will no longer feature anti-submarine torpedoes and variable depth sonar detectors.

The integration of the cutting-edge technological systems will pave the way for the Singapore Navy to keep up with the technological advances of other navies worldwide and meet its operational needs to 2020.
