RUSSIAN SUBMARINE SEVERODVINSK

Russian new submarine Severodvinsk will be delivered to the Navy on December 30, as reported by Ria Novosti.

With keel laid in Sevmash shipyard in 1993, the submarine’s commissioning has been delayed on several occasions due to unspecified technical problems.

The Yasen-class attack submarine has increased potential for search operations and her primary task will be to notice the enemy. In addition, a new technology was used to cut back noise of the submarine.

The attack system of the submarine became versatile and includes vertical launch ramps for cruise missiles, which permit launching weapons of various sorts.

Defense industry source said that the acceptance act for the submarine will be inked at Sevmash shipyard.
