Iranian Submarine Hosts Sri Lankan Navy Commander
IRANIAN SUBMARINE YOUNES

Sri Lankan Navy Commander Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage has paid a visit to Iranian submarine, a member of a task force docked at the Port of Colombo, Sri Lankan Daily Mirror writes.

As reported on Monday 23, two Iranian ships and the submarine, named Younes, arrived in Sri Lanka within a deployment to the Far East.

Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Siavash Jare explained that the Port of Colombo is among the important ports along the sea transit route to the Far East and East Asia.

The submarine Younes was the Russian Kilo Class submarine, which Iran overhauled at Bandar-Abbas naval base.
