Manama port in Bahrain yesterday welcomed Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman for a visit, which will last 5 days, as reported by the Stars and Stripes.

USS Harry S. Truman left her homeport of Norfolk, Va. in July embarking on a nine-month deployment, which is almost half complete.

She entered the U.S 5th Fleet AOR (Area of responsibility) in August to replace the USS Nimitz in the mission to the Middle East.

She passed the approximate midway point of her 2013-2014 deployment on December 6.

So far the ship has carried out16 underway replenishments and received about 11.4 million gallons of JP-5 fuel.

The crew of the ship will spend Christmas in Bahrain, and the visit will give them an opportunity to call and video chat with family and friends.
