Sri Lanka: RABS Holds 10th 4RS Insignia Awarding Ceremony

RABS Holds 10th 4RS Insignia Awarding Ceremony

The 10th insignia awarding ceremony of the 4RS (Rapid Response Rescues Relief Squadron) was held on a grand scale at the Rapid Action Boat Squadron Headquarters at Gangewadiya in Puttalam on 7th December 2013.

Commander North Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral NKD Nanayakkara, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Director Maritime Special Forces and Director Naval Operations, Commodore Niraja Attygalle, Commanding Officer 4RS, Commander Kosala Wijesooriya and several senior naval officers were also present on the occasion.

A total of 39 RABS personnel were awarded with 4RS insignia after successful completion of their training. This occasion was considered historic to the RABS, since it was the very first 4RS training undertaken after the shifting of the RABS/4RS Headquarters to its present location. A demonstration of their skills was held at the end of the ceremony by the newly-passed out 4RS life savers adding colour to the occasion.
