The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67) will join ships from the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea navy Dec. 8-9 for a trilateral naval exercise in waters to the south of the Korean Peninsula.
The naval exercise is aimed at improving teamwork and interoperability between the three navies in theater security cooperation and humanitarian relief operations. The guided-missile destroyer ROKS Yulgok Yi I (DDG 992) and Royal navy destroyer HMS Daring will join USS Shiloh for the exercise.
“This is an exceptional opportunity to bring together three navies that have historically worked very closely together as allies and close friends,” said Rear Adm. Lisa Franchetti, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Korea. “This exercise provides our navies a chance to work together and learn from each other so we may continue to fulfill our common interests in preserving a safe and secure maritime environment.”
USS Shiloh, with a crew of approximately 400 Sailors, is part of the U.S. 7th Fleet and assigned to Commander, Task Force 70. The ship is forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan to support security and stability operations and exercises throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
