SAIC Recognized for Its Performance

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) was honored by Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Land and Maritime as one of the agency’s top suppliers at an award ceremony held Nov. 15 on the Defense Supply Center Columbus installation.

SAIC was recognized for its performance on current DLA Land and Maritime supply chain and logistics programs, including the Tires Successor Initiative, Anniston Army Depot and Red River Army Depot Industrial Product-Support Vendor and Automotive Prime Vendor Worldwide. SAIC DLA Group Senior Vice President Linda Messano accepted the Recognition for Excellence Bronze Award from the DLA Land and Maritime Commander, Navy Rear Adm. David R. Pimpo.

“It is truly an honor to receive an award based solely on our quality and delivery performance. This award is a true testament to our employees’ commitment to DLA and the mission,” said Messano.

The Recognition for Excellence awards acknowledges vendors that maintain high performance on their contracts with DLA. To be eligible, firms must have shipped 50 or more contract line items during a 12-month period. Qualifying firms were measured by the Automated Best Value System (ABVS) and met the stringent quality and delivery requirements established by DLA. The ABVS, a computerized system, collects a vendor’s past performance data and translates it into a numeric score, ranging from zero to 100. To qualify for a Bronze Award, SAIC scored 98 to 98.9.

DLA Land and Maritime is the land and maritime supply chain headquarters for DLA, with more than 3,000 associates in 53 locations around the world. DLA Land and Maritime manages almost 2 million spare parts and supports more than 145,000 customers in the military services, civilian agencies and other Department of Defense organizations. SAIC has supported DLA for more than 30 years, with its first DLA order in 1979.
