LE Aoife Detains UK Registered Fishing Vessel

The Naval Service Vessel L.É. AOIFE has detained an UK registered fishing vessel approximately 70 nautical miles south of Cork.

The detention was in relation to an alleged breach of fishing regulations.

The vessel is currently in the process of being handed over to the UK Maritime Management Office and is expected to leave Irish waters and return to port in the UK later this evening.

This brings to 926 total vessels boarded by the Naval Service in 2013 and this is the fourteenth vessel detained by the Naval Service so far this year.
