USS Chancellorsville Finishes Combat Systems Upgrades
Naval Sea Systems Command completed the first-ever Air Defense Cruiser Aegis Baseline 9 combat systems upgrade for USS Chancellorsville (CG 62), March 29. The upgrade, part of the Navy’s Cruiser Modernization program, began in April 2012 at BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair Facility and was completed following combat systems testing and sea trials.
USS Chancellorsville Damaged by Aerial Target Drone during Exercise
An aerial target drone malfunctioned and struck guided missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) off the coast of Southern California at approximately 1:25 pm local time on Nov. 16, while the ship was conducting a radar tracking exercise during routine training at sea.
Indian Naval Ship Vikramaditya Commissioned
The Indian Naval Ship Vikramaditya was commissioned on 16 Nov 2013. The commissioning ceremony took place at Severodvinsk, Russia. INS Vikramaditya was formerly known as Russian aircraft carrier named Admiral Gorshkov. The contract for the ship was signed between the Federation of Russia and the Union Government of India on 04 Oct 2000.
LCS Surface Warfare Package Passes Live-Fire Test
The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Surface Warfare Mission Package successfully completed the second phase of its developmental testing, the Naval Sea Systems Command announced Nov. 7. USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) conducted the testing at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division Point Mugu range off the coast of California, October 1-25.
Royal Norwegian Navy, Kongsberg Pen RWS Deal
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) has signed a contract for the delivery of Sea PROTECTOR Remote Weapon Stations (RWS) for the Royal Norwegian Navy (RNoN) combat vessels. The contract is entered between the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organization (NDLO) and KONGSBERG, represented by the Naval Systems & Surveillance Division.
