Northrop Grumman to Exhibit at Dubai Air Show 2013

Northrop Grumman Corporation will highlight a range of its global defence and security solutions, including airborne early warning and control systems, aerial surveillance and fire control radars at the Dubai Air Show 2013.

The foremost aerospace event in the Middle East, the 2013 Dubai Air Show will take place at the Dubai World Center, Nov. 17-21.

Northrop Grumman will be exhibiting at stand #2051 with the company’s chalets located at A34 and A35.

Northrop Grumman has a well-established presence in the Middle East. The recent appointment of Raaberg significantly enhances the company’s profile in the UAE and helps position it for future success globally.

The industry-leading airborne early warning capabilities of its E-2D Advanced Hawkeye will be highlighted in Northrop Grumman’s exhibit with acrew workstation and flyable cockpit simulator to demonstrate the E-2D’s benefits for military and civil applications.

The E-2D Advanced Hawkeye couples a newly designed electronically scanned radar with a matching suite of sensors, avionics, processors, software and displays to provide the most technologically advanced command and control capability available worldwide. The AN/APY-9 radar is the backbone of this aircraft and provides greater flexibility and significantly improved detection and tracking over all terrains. Northrop Grumman has delivered 10 E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft to the U.S. Navy and initial operational capability with the Navy fleet is on track for 2015. The programme entered full-rate production in early 2013 after being declared operationally suitable and effective following a robust 10-month initial operational test and evaluation by the Navy.

Fielded and operationally proven by the U.S. Air Force and customers worldwide, the S-Band, long-range AN/TPS-78 and the midrange TPS-703 ground radars are in 24-hour-a-day operation around the world. With its sophisticated filters installed to counter sea clutter and its ability to operate in high temperatures, Northrop Grumman’s TPS-78 and TPS-703 radars are ideally suited to the unique environment of the Gulf.

The AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task-Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) is a highly mobile AESA radar system that provides multifaceted detection and tracking capabilities. With its ability to intelligently and adaptively allocate its myriad sensor capabilities, G/ATOR is able to detect and track a wide variety of threats, including manned aircraft, cruise missiles and unmanned autonomous systems, as well as mortar, rocket and artillery rounds.

The exhibit will also feature a range of Northrop Grumman’s industry-leading airborne fire control radars, including the AN/APG-68(V) 9, AN-APG-80, AN/APG-81 and the Scaled Agile Beam Radar (SABR), the newest multifunction AESA radar for the U. S. Air Force and foreign F-16 aircraft as well as its family of unmanned air systems (UAS).

A key educational initiative being highlighted in the exhibit is the UAE Innovation Challenge, an unmanned aircraft competition which brings together Northrop Grumman engineers, students from the Higher Colleges of Technology and UAE industry to help deepen student appreciation of, and interest in, science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM.
