HMS Collingwood Welcomes Ghana Navy Chief of Naval Staff

Rear Admiral Geoffrey Biekro, Ghana Navy Chief of Naval Staff, visited the MWS recently as part of a wider visit to the UK.

During his time at HMS Collingwood the Admiral visited the Close Range Training Simulator, the Bridge Simulator, met with Ghana Navy students on the International Warfare Officer (Foundation) Course and had discussions with personnel from International Defence Training and the Babcock International Group.

In addition to experiencing a Bridge Simulator demonstration, the Admiral witnessed the Ghana students conducting blind pilotage training, where Lieutenant James Agrah, Ghana Navy, was training in the Commanding Officer role and Sub Lieutenant Gideon Yankey, Ghana Navy, was acting as the student Navigator, as the photograph shows.

The Admiral congratulated his officers on departing saying, “Well done, keep it up.”
