USS Zumwalt Successfully Launched

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works successfully launched the Navy’s first Zumwalt-class destroyer Oct. 28 at their Bath, Maine shipyard.   The future USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) will be the lead ship of the Navy’s newest destroyer class, designed for littoral operations and land attack.


INS Kamorta Runs Aground

The Indian Navy’s new corvette, INS Kamorta, ran aground in the Hooghly on Friday during sea trials, according to the Times of India.   The ship is currently being built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE). As explained by Navy officers, the ship’s engines failed and pulled it away from its course. 


USA: HII Christens NSC Hamilton

Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Ingalls Shipbuilding division christened, Oct. 26, the National Security Cutter (NSC) Hamilton (WMSL 753) in front of nearly 1,000 guests. Hamilton is the fourth NSC Ingalls has built for the U.S. Coast Guard.


USS Nimitz Docks in Naples, Italy

The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), along with embarked Carrier Strike Group 11, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11, and Destroyer Squadron 23 arrived in Naples, Italy for a port visit, Oct. 30.   


BAE Systems Hands Over Warship to Royal Navy of Oman

A new warship has been handed over to the Royal Navy of Oman amid colourful celebrations on HM Naval Base Portsmouth this morning. AL RAHMANI is the second of three 99 metre corvettes designed, built and delivered for the Royal Navy of Oman as part of Project Khareef.
