Royal Navy Warship Hosts School Children Visit

Royal Navy Warship Hosts School Children Visit

HMS Richmond played host to a group of 30 students and 6 teachers from Mount Pleasant Airfield Primary School, during a recent visit as part of her Atlantic patrol.

Hosted by Lt Ben Manktelow the children, aged between 5 and 11, were shown around the Bridge, the Ship’s Control Centre, Operations Room and the After Forward and Repair Party Post.

The children took the opportunity to speak to a number of members of the Ship’s Company and talked about everything from weapons systems to catering arrangements onboard.

In letters of thanks to Lt Manktelow, the children highlighted how much they enjoyed seeing the Bridge and also the sailor’s living accommodation but weren’t so impressed by the harsh conditions of being on the upper deck!
