Thunder Welcomed to Australia by HMAS Toowoomba

In September, HMAS Toowoomba hosted members of the Ship’s Company of the Nigerian Navy ShipThunder, which was visiting the Port of Fremantle en route to the International Fleet Review (IFR).

The Toowoomba Team provided their Nigerian guests with a tour of the ship, which finished off with a morning tea and the exchange of respective ship’s plaques.

While Toowoomba wasn’t to make the journey to Sydney for the IFR, the visit by NNS Thunder was a great opportunity for the Australian warship to get involved in the build up to the IFR by greeting some visiting Navy guests during their first port visit in Australia.

The Nigerians thoroughly enjoyed their first opportunity to visit an Australian Warship and interact with the members of the Royal Australian Navy. Sub Lieutenant Adeniyi Oyinlola from the Nigerian Navy said “the opportunity was a great precursor to the arrival in Sydney for the Fleet Review.”
