The Irish Naval Service Vessel L.É. EITHNE detained a French registered fishing vessel approximately 150 nautical miles South of Mizen Head, Co Cork yesterday.

The detention was in relation to an alleged technical breach of fishing regulations.

The vessel was escorted by the L.É. EITHNE to Cobh, where it was handed over to An Gardaí Síochána.

This brings to 804 total vessels boarded by the Naval Service in 2013. 24 warnings have been issued and this is the 8th vessel detained by the Naval Service so far this year.
