Sri Lanka Navy Rescues 5 Fishermen

Naval Patrol Craft, P 422 attached to the Eastern Naval Command rescued 5 fishermen stranded in the seas 47 nautical miles off Foul Point on 16th September 2013.

Their fishing trawler named “Upul” had become non-operational due to an engine defect.

The Navy was informed of the incident by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource. Accordingly, under the direction of the Naval Headquarters, the Eastern Naval Command dispatched P 422, to rescue the stranded fishing boat with its 5-member crew. Subsequently, the fishing boat was towed to Cod bay Fisheries Harbour for repairs.
