Torpedo Shot from USS Iowa in 1899 Surfaces

Naval History and Heritage Command’s (NHHC) Underwater Archeology Branch (UAB) dove into the history of a recently-discovered late-19th century No. 24 Howell Torpedo, Aug. 9, and they scored a direct hit. 


USS Theodore Roosevelt Starts Fast Cruise

Sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) began fast cruise by executing a simulated sea and anchor detail in Newport News, Va., Aug. 19. 


HMS Dragon, US Fighter Jets Join Forces in the Gulf

A Royal Navy warship and RAF Typhoons have put their skills and technology to the test during a joint exercise. The aircraft joined HMS Dragon and US fighter jets in a training exercise to detect, classify and monitor contacts on the sea’s surface in the challenging conditions of the Gulf.

The Revolutionary Gator Arrives in Sydney, Australia

More than 3,000 U.S. Sailors and Marines aboard USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) docked at Garden Island, Sydney today for a four day port visit. While in town the ship will be hosted by the crew of NUSHIP Canberra.
