Outstanding service by a Navy Clinical Manager aboard HMAS Ballarat has been recognised with the presentation of an Australia Day Medallion to Petty Officer J’arne Dance at a ceremony at HMAS Penguin this week.

PO Dance was commended for her “unfaltering commitment and dedication to her duties as the senior medical representative in Ballarat … throughout an intensively busy sixteen month period” that consistently set her apart from her peers, according to the accompanying citation from the Chief of Navy.

Those sixteen months included a SEASWASP with HMAS Parramatta , a high profile North East Asian deployment, three major domestic activities and numerous multilateral activities with foreign nations.

The medallion was presented at the regular fortnightly morning tea at HMAS Penguin by Commanding Officer HMAS Penguin , Commander Paul Doble. Speaking after the ceremony CMDR Doble said that Command relies on the support provided by health staff and the efforts of PO Dance, who is now a Clinical Manger Instructor at HMAS Penguin Medical School, were an example to others and in the finest traditions of the Royal Australian Navy.
